- Event description
Per records of the Association for Solidarity and Support for Relatives of Disappeared Persons (Yakay-Der), Bedri Berek had moved from his native village, Meşeiçi, to the center of Cizre because of frequent military raids on the village. He earned his living as a driver. One night in 1994 (date unknown), during a raid on his house, he was pulled out of bed by soldiers and taken away in a panzer.
The family applied to the authorities, including the police, the public prosecutor’s office and various other official bodies – to no avail.
Bedri Berek had not been seen or heard from, nor have his bodily remains been found.
