- Event description
According to the archives of the Batman Bar Association and the Batman Çağdaş Newspaper article dated 16th November 2009, İsa Gök was a shopkeeper living and working in Batman, who held a seat in the provincial board of HADEP’s (People’s Democracy Party). In 1994, İsa Gök was kept in police custody for eleven days on suspicion of aiding and abetting the PKK. Two months later, on the morning of 12th June 1994, he was taken from his home by two men in plain clothes, who introduced themselves as Hizbullah members and claimed that İsa Gök would be released after undergoing trial by the Islamic community. However, İsa Gök did not return home. In their search for İsa Gök, the family exhausted all official means to no avail.
In 2002, Diyarbakır State Security Court’s (DGM) Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office included İsa Gök on the list of murder victims killed by the Hizbullah Organization. Later on, İsa Gök’s name was listed again among the 180 Hizbullah murder victims in the summary of proceedings for investigation (no.2003/4131) and for decision (no.2011/169) prepared and submitted to the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecution Office by the Batman Chief Prosecution Office. It is presently impossible to understand the outcome of the court case based on the documents relayed to our organization.
