Per petition lodged at the Silopi Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office by Cevzet Soysal’s son and news article published in the Cumhuriyet Newspaper on 21st January 2000, forty-four-year-old Cevzet Soysal disappeared in Batman on 9th November 1998 after leaving his home for work.

He has not been seen or heard from, nor have his bodily remains been found.

The legal process initiated by the authorities did not yield any results.

In 2015, the former chief of the Intelligence Department of the General Directorate of Security Sabri Uzun alleged in his book “İn” (The Den) that Cevzet Soysal had been abducted and killed by the Batman Police Force.

During the investigation initiated by the İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, a police officer from the Batman Police Force claimed that Cevzet Soysal had been killed because during interrogation he had identified one of the policemen by his voice.

So far, there has not been a development in the investigation.
