- Event description
Per TIHV’s report on human rights abuse in 1994, Kadri Yılmaz was living in Diyarbakır. He was taken in to custody along with his brother and three other individuals by police officers, who raided a wedding reception that they were attending in the Bağlar neighbourhood of Diyarbakır on 1st May 1994. Kadri Yılmaz was not heard from while all other detainees were released a day later. The police maintained that Kadri Yılmaz was released on that day when his family began to search for him. Eight days after the incident, Kadri’s family learned from an acquaintance living in Lice that three bodies had been buried in the Lice cemetery. Kadri’s family identified some of the clothes belonging to these three deceased individuals as Kadri’s; however, despite their efforts they could not have the body exhumed.
