Per human rights report for year 1993 published by the Human Rights Foundation of Turkey and Yakay-Der records, Celal Yanık and his colleagues Abdurrahman İbin and Şakir İbin were from Batman. They were kidnapped in the late hours of the evening of 23rd November 1993 from the chickpea factory site in Mersin, where they all worked. The İbin family informed the police of the incident but they could not get any information regarding the whereabouts of the three men.

Two days later, Abdurrahman İbin’s body was found in the bus terminal of Tarsus. He had been tortured and shot in the head. Three days later, the bodies of Şakir İbin and Celal Yanık were found in a nearby area. They had also been tortured and shot in their heads.
