Per Yakay-Der’s book on enforced disappearances “Sımsıcaktı Elleri” (How snug were their hands) and news article published on ANF’s news site on 4th December 2013, Şeyhmus Eroğlu was a sixty-five-year-old father of seven who had left his native village Bardakçı in Mardin’s Midyat district due to pressure from the security forces in order to work as a village guard. On 21st September 1995, his house in Batman was raided by village guards and soldiers, who took Şeyhmuz Eroğlu with them when they left. Şeyhmuz Eroğlu was never heard from or seen, not have his bodily remains been found. His family searched for him to no avail.
