Per plaintiff depositions in the investigation file, Tahir Macartay and Veysi Başar were working as truck drivers for the latter’s father-in-law. On 22nd July 1993, on their way back from Van to their hometown Cizre, they were stopped by men in soldier uniforms whose faces were masked with white cloth. The men specifically asked for the “drivers from Cizre”, upon which Tahir and Veysi stpped down from their trucks along with a driver named Rahmi; they left with the men and did not return.
Three months later, their dead bodies were discovered near the same road.
The investigation is on-going under the jurisdiction of the Cizre Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
PS: Hafıza Merkezi does not have any information about the third victim, Rahmi. For this reason, he does not have a file in our system as a victim of enforced disappearance.

Per plaintiff depositions in the investigation file, truck dirvers Tahir Macartay and Veysi Başar and disappeared on 22nd July 1993, on their way back from Van to their hometown Cizre; their dead bodies were discovered near the same road three months later.
Their wives submitted a criminal complaint with the Cizre Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office in 2009.
