Per indictment bill prepared by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, sometime during 1994, 28-year-old İbrahim Adak, who worked in construction, and his fourty-two-year-old accountant friend Mehmet Gurri Özer decided to go to the wedding ceremony of a friend in Mersin together.

On the morning of their departure, a car lacking a license plate, that everyone knew belonged to JİTEM came to the construction site where the two men were preparing for their departure. The individuals who descended from the car told İbrahim and Mehmet to come with them to the Central Police Station.

In the evening when their families did not hear from the two men, they called the construction site, then the former mayor whom they knew personally, only to be told “Those who departed are gone. If you do not go home now, you will also be forced to depart.” In March 1994, the dead bodies of İbrahim Adak and Mehmet Gürri Özer were found close to the İnci village near Silopi, both shot and killed from a close distance.

Per testimony of secret witnesses, who are also defendants in the lawsuit filed against a gang formed by the Cizre District Gendarmerie Commander carrying out extra-judicial executions; the two men were abducted upon the instructions of the Commander and killed.

The defendants, who were charged with multiple life sentences, were all acquitted in November 2015 due to lack of evidence. The case is under review by the Court of Cassation.
