Per press statement released by Cumartesi İnsanları on 3rd August 2013 and Yakay-Der’s book on enforced disappearances “Sımsıcaktı Elleri” (How snug were their hands), Servet Bayram was a twenty-eight-year-old baker living in Diyarbakır. On 8th July 1995, he was taken into custody by security forces and village guards as he was on his way to the Hazro district of Diyarbakır to visit relatives. When the family searched for him, the authorities denied that he had been placed in custody. A head village guard whom the family contacted accepted that Servet Bayram was in detention and assured them that he would be released; however, Servet Bayram has not been heard from or seen, nor have his bodily remains been found since then.
