Per Yakay-Der’s records and press statement released by Cumartesi İnsanları on 17th March 2012, Yusuf Erişti was a thirty-year-old man from Tokat, who had spent two years in prison after the 12th September 1980 coup and had been detained and tortured numerous times due to his political activities. On 14th March 1991, he was placed under custody in İstanbul and taken to the Gayrettepe Anti-terror Division. Yusuf Erişti was last seen on 17th March 1991 by individuals also being subjected to torture like himself. During his father’s many attempts to search for his son, it was denied that he had been placed under custody. He has not been heard from or seen, nor have his bodily remains been found.
