Per Yakay-Der records and TESEV’s 2013-dated report on enforced disappearances and unsolved murders, in around October or November of 1995, Nadir Mete, the mukhtar of Silopi’s Gite village set on the road with driver Selahattin Bilen to go to Cizre and disappeared. When Selahaddin Bilen’s uncle went to the Prosecutor’s Office to make a written request, he was prevented by a man, whom the uncle knew to be an intelligence officer. About 22 days later, the dead bodies of the two men were discovered. During the Ergenekon trial, a witness claimed in his testimony that he had seen two specialized sergeants and an ex-PKK member-turned-JİTEM employee watch the mukhtar from a distance for a while and then have him and Selahaddin Bilen get in the car with them and drive off.

A legal process for the disappearance of Selahaddin Bilen and Nadir Mete was initiated by Selahaddin Bilen’s uncle after widely mediatized claims made in 2008 regarding the activities and burial sites of JİTEM. The two men’s disappearance was included in the investigation (file no.2008/3151) conducted by Silopi Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, who took over the case again in 2014 under file number 2014/939 following jurisdiction changes over the years. The investigation is still ongoing.
